What does RadioDNS do for radio broadcasters and content providers?

RadioDNS provides the link between what you’re broadcasting over FM, DAB, HD Radio (or other broadcast platforms), with what you can also provide over an internet connection. This lets you combine the power of broadcasting to reach many people very cost effectively, and the power of the Internet to deliver enhanced or personalised content. Using RadioDNS, we have produced applications to add visuals (“RadioVIS”), or enable service-following between broadcast and IP (“RadioEPG”), or even allow listeners to discover more about the music or information you broadcast (“RadioTAG”), including a way of unlocking new revenue streams.

As a radio broadcaster, you might want to:

- Discover more about the basic idea
- See which other broadcasters support the concept
- Become a Supporter, for free, or apply to become a Member: read more information about what a Member or Supporter is.
- Become a User and start producing RadioDNS-enabled services for yourself.

Want to become a User of RadioDNS?

Chances are, you’re interested in RadioDNS to enable an application like RadioVIS or RadioEPG (including service following and station information) for your listeners on a compatible device. This is called “becoming a User” of RadioDNS, since your listeners will be using RadioDNS’s linking information to find your RadioDNS-enabled services.

- If you want someone to help set you up, we list software solution providers who have helped other broadcasters, and can help you get up and running too. They also provide tools that can help create the editorial information you’ll need.
- Alternatively, you can do this yourself. First, you need to add your broadcasts to RadioDNS’s lookup table. We’ve provided full information on how to do this.
- Then, you need to set up your RadioVIS or RadioEPG service. Our documentation can help here. RadioEPG is as simple as adding a few XML files to a website; RadioVIS is a little more involved.
- If you get stuck, ask other people in our developers discussion list, or ask the RadioDNS Project Office.

It’s easy to start using RadioDNS and to enhance your radio listeners’ experience. Get in touch if we can help further.
